N/A NEMA Rated Touchscreens: An Overview
NEMA 4/4X Touchscreens were originally designed to meet the needs of the food processing and pharmaceutical industries, where "wash down" cleaning procedures are a daily requirement. Daisy Data Displays was one of the innovators in the industrial touchscreen field, and is responsible for much of the current reliance on touchscreen interface in process control. In recent years, the popularity of the touchscreen interface has grown to reach almost every location in which processes are controlled via computers on the plant floor. After all, there is no interface easier to use than your own finger. Daisy brought the simplicity of the touchscreen interface to locations where water-tight, dust-tight, and corrosion resistant equipment is needed.

The design of NEMA 4/4X Touchscreens is based upon the fact that the surface of monitor screens are spherical sections, and therefore have a spherical radius. This spherical radius is used as a "template" to create a steel bezel with the exact profile of the monitor screen. NEMA rated gasketing is adhered to this bezel, and the bezel is mounted via a set of brackets which allow the gasket to be compressed against a monitor with a touchscreen attached to the surface of the display. This creates a true NEMA 4X seal, which protects the internal components from the environment.

Though this may sound like a relatively simple process, the real-world application of this design requires incredible accuracy and painstaking attention to detail at every step in the process. Daisy has been doing it since 1990...Touchscreens are one of our claims to fame! Our experience with this process not only makes the technology possible, it also makes it affordable.

When you are ready to make your operator interface as user-friendly and intuitive as possible, you know you can trust Daisy's experience and thoroughness to bring Touchscreens to your plant floor.
