AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING

In the automotive industry, industrial HMIs (human machine interface) play a critical role in achieving two critical components: maximizing uptime and production quality.

Industrial HMIs are scalable computers and displays that enable operators to easily control manufacturing machinery. Designed to operate in industrial environments, industrial computers allow operators to easily monitor, adjust and control machine performance directly on the manufacturing floor. Industrial HMIs can also be used for data monitoring and acquisition, as well as process or logistic systems.

With the ability to withstand shock, vibrations and debris, they can be placed directly on the production floor, allowing operators direct access to make adjustments to the machinery and/or transmit data in real-time from the production line to a control center using wireless technology. With sufficient processing power, they can alert production managers to line issues resulting in slowdown and enabling them to remedy issues quickly to minimize downtime.

Industrial HMIs are a significant part of the production process as they are easy to setup, program, maintain and adjust; enabling automotive facilities to quickly integrate new machine technology and produce new automotive technology.  Designed to withstand common hazards in manufacturing facilities, industrial computers and monitors are rated for IP64 or NEMA 4X environments. They are designed in a stainless steel enclosure with a shatterproof LCD display and fanless cooling systems that protect internal components from dirt, dust and debris.

These design features, paired with the ability to incrementally upgrade components and low power consumption processors ensure that manufacturing processes operate effectively and efficiently in industrial environments, minimizing risk of downtime.
