Daisy Releases IECEx Certified, Explosion-Proof Workstation

Daisy’s Series 4520Cx blow-out preventer (BOP) control computer is IECEx Zone 2 and UL Division 2 certified. An IECEx certification is the highest safety standard for equipment used in explosive atmospheres. Daisy is one of the few ruggedized computer manufacturers in the US to complete the IECEx certification process for a workstation designed for hazardous oil exploration environments.

The Series 4520Cx is designed with automatic failover technology, meaning the CPU will not restart in the event of a power loss; power is continuous and uninterrupted. Units are configurable with up to five front-mounted pushbutton switches with stainless steel lock-out flip covers that help to prevent human errors from inadvertently sealing an oil well.

Some standard features include 2.0 GHz i7 CPU and 8GB of RAM. Units are iP66 rated with a rugged glass-on-glass resistive touchscreen capable of being used with gloves for operating environments that require strict safety standards. The Series 4520Cx is also rated for 0 to 55°C with a Solid State Cooling device that prevents failure in extreme temperatures.
